CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 17, 2012--
Ventas, Inc. (NYSE: VTR) (“Ventas” or the “Company”) announced today
that it has appointed John K. Hart to the newly created position of
Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer reporting to the
Company’s Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately.

John Hart brings to Ventas an extensive background in creating and
managing complex and robust state-of-the-art financial IT systems in a
rapidly evolving industry,” Ventas Executive Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer Richard A. Schweinhart said. “With our recent doubling
in size and enormous opportunities for growth in the highly fragmented
healthcare and seniors housing real estate sector, John will play a
pivotal role in building our infrastructure to help us execute our

Hart, 48, joined Ventas from CME Group Inc., the world’s largest futures
exchange by trading volume, where he worked for 16 years, most recently
as Managing Director of Technology. At the CME, where he supervised a
team of 200 IT professionals, Hart was responsible for managing the
exchange’s enterprise architecture, business systems, security,
telecommunications, networking, help desk and operations. Earlier in his
career he was an assistant vice president at First Options in Chicago,
and prior to that he was a senior network architect with the John D. and
Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Hart received his Bachelor of
Industrial Management from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and his
MBA from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.
